Welcome To Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation

Glenbow Ranch Needs Your Help!

The provincial government is considering flooding part of Cochrane — including Bearspaw and Haskayne Legacy Parks, and Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park — to build a new reservoir.

This new “Glenbow East” dam would not only catastrophically impact our parks, but negatively affect our recreational opportunities, wildlife, environment, and property values.

We understand the government will not be holding public events. Currently, our only input is an online survey open until May 6th, 2024. Click here to view the project page and click here to complete the survey.

Our Foundation supports alternative measures, including the expansion of the existing Ghost reservoir, to secure flood and drought security while protecting both Cochrane and our Bow River parks. We are conducting a public meeting to gather feedback from our broader community to inform our official position, engage in open and constructive dialogue, and advocate for solutions that will enhance Alberta’s water security — while protecting and maintaining Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park as it exists today.

Established in 2007 by the Harvie Family, our Mission is to protect and promote Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park through engagement, education, collaboration and conservation.

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is located on the lands of Treaty 7 territory. We acknowledge the past, present, and future generations of the Stoney Nakoda Nations, the Tsuut’ina, the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani), and the Metis Nation (Region 3) who help us steward these lands, as well as honour and celebrate this place. In the spirit of reconciliation, we recognize the continued importance of these lands to all who make their home in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
