Driven past a field and asked why we grow crops in some places and raise cattle in others? Stepped outside in a t-shirt in the middle of February and pondered where the Chinook wind is coming from? Geology plays a crucial role in our everyday lives\, yet most are completely unaware of the profound impacts it can have on our climate\, economy\, recreation\, culture and more. In this talk\, we will explore the concept of Geodiversity and how the geology and geography of Calgary and Southern Alberta enrich our lives everyday. \n

SUMMARY:Guided Quarry Tour - October 16
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this amazing experience. Limited spots available \nGuided walks throughout Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park are a unique way to experience the park with a guide who is knowledgeable about history and nature in the park. This guided walk is one of a kind! The moderate level hike will start with a golf cart shuttle to the trailhead. From there\, experienced guides will lead us to the historic Quarry in an area not accessible to the public. \nThis is a moderate level hike that mostly follows cattle trails and includes some rough terrain\, with a round trip of about 5km. The tour will last 4 hours\, including the golf cart shuttle. Please dress accordingly for the weather and the duration that you will be out in the park. \nWhat to bring: \n\nClothes for all weather\nHiking boots or solid shoes\nWater/snacks\nHat/sunglasses/sunscreen\nHiking poles are recommended\n\nMeet at the parking lot \nThis event is not recommended for children.
