DESCRIPTION:Join us for this amazing experience. Limited spots available \nGuided walks throughout Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park are a unique way to experience the park with a guide who is knowledgeable about history and nature in the park. This guided walk is one of a kind! The moderate level hike will start with a golf cart shuttle to the trailhead. From there\, experienced guides will lead us to the historic Quarry in an area not accessible to the public. \nThis is a moderate level hike that mostly follows cattle trails and includes some rough terrain\, with a round trip of about 5km. The tour will last 4 hours\, including the golf cart shuttle. Please dress accordingly for the weather and the duration that you will be out in the park. \nWhat to bring: \n\nClothes for all weather\nHiking boots or solid shoes\nWater/snacks\nHat/sunglasses/sunscreen\nHiking poles are recommended\n\nMeet at the parking lot \nThis event is not recommended for children.

DESCRIPTION:History and stories of the Hamlet of Bottrel \nThis presentation given by Beverley Guthrie will cover the history of the Hamlet of Bottrel from the late 1800s to the present day\, including the story of the Bottrel General Store\, which is the oldest store in Alberta. This year also marks the 125th anniversary of the Bottrel General Store\, making it an especially meaningful time to reflect on its history and legacy. \nIt will also discuss the restoration and revival of the historic hall attached to the store\, the historical connections to the CP Rail and the North West Mounted Police\, and the origins of the Dog Pound Rodeo — the oldest rodeo in Alberta — which began in the Bottrel Park campground. \nIn addition\, it will touch on the long-standing relationships between the local ranching\, farming\, and First Nations communities in the area\, and how those connections continue in a positive and meaningful way today.
